30 Sep JDI Youth Dialogue 2015: Academic Panel

JDI Youth Dialogue 2015 is going to held in a few days! The Conference will begin on Monday, October 5 in Czernin Palace with a keynote speech by Petr Drulák, Political Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic and Director of Minister’s Cabinet, followed by the first, Academic Panel.

The Academic Panel entitled “The Concept of Preventive Diplomacy from the European Perspective” aims at presentinting preventive diplomacy to the participants from a theoretical point of view. Culture of prevention and preventive diplomacy actors, tools and instruments will be discussed at this panel. Last but not least, there will be time allocated for a discussion on methods and new trends used in current preventive diplomacy.

The Academic Panel will be presented by Jeremy Garlick, lecturer at the University of Economics in Prague. Among those who will address the first panel is Evangelos Fanoulis, lecturer in Politics at the University of Leicester with experience working within the European Commission and European External Action Service. His main area of research is EU common security and defence policymaking. Another distinguished panelist is Nona Mikhelidze, a senior fellow at the Italian Istituto Affari Internazionali where she currently coordinates the project Azerbaijan, Caucasus and the EU: Towards Close Cooperation?. Her research interests include the European Neigbourhood Policy, conflict resolution in the South Caucasus and Russian foreign policy in the ex-Soviet space. Ida Manton will also take part in the debate. Mrs. Manton works as an independent consultant and conducts trainings on international negotiation processes, mediation and conflict resolution. In the previous years she was engaged in the OSCE missions and worked for Peace Corps and NATO.
